Author Guidelines

Requirements for publications in Journal


General information for publications:

  • Substantiate the importance of the topic as a scientific problem.
  • Formulated research object and aim.
  • Description of research methodology.
  • Review previous research on the subject by providing references in the body of the text followed by a list of references at the end of the text.
  • If the paper deals with an experiment conducted by the author, research methodology, data, analysis and results should be presented in a precise and clear way.
  • Present conclusions, reflecting the aim of the research and showing scientific impact of the research.
  • The structure of manuscript:
    • the title of the paper;
    • the author’s name(s) and surname(s);
    • affiliation(s),
    • abstract (300–500 characters),
    • key words (Italic)
    • the content of manuscript with conclusions
    • discussion
    • references
    • Summary (3000-5000 printed characteristics). The summary must contain the research problem, aim, content and conclusions.


The size of full paper should be about 8-10 pages (the list of references is not included), A4 paper size, using Times New Roman 12-point font size, single-spacing, Microsoft Word format, top – 20 mm, bottom – 20 mm, left – 30 mm, right – 15 mm).

Papers should be prepared in APA Style (Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association, 5th edition)


Citation and format style.

Tables and figures.Numbers of all tables with arabic numerals sequentially. “Table” and it‘s number (Bold), the name of the table have to be written on the left of the text (see Table 1).

Figures. Graphs, schemes, figures, photos are defined as figures.“Figure” and the number of figure (Bold), the name of the figure have to be indicated under the figure in the center of the text (see Figure 1).

If a table or figures have been published previously by other author, original references and author’s permission to publish or adapt figure or table should be received.



  • All references in the text should be indicated into references list. Also all references in the list of references should be in the text of the manuscript.
  • The references in the text are presented by pointing author’s or authors’ surname and the year of publication
    • All papers should be written in English (Pavardenis, 2011).
    • All papers should be written in English and Lithuanian (Pavardenis & Pavardene, 2011).
    • If the author or two authors are mention in the text, after author‘s (or authors‘) surname(s) follows the year of publication in the brackets
      • Pavardenis (2011) said that…..
      • Pavardenis & Pavardene (2011) toled…
    • If there are 3 and more authors, all authors should be indicated for the first time.

  • When exact quotations are included, the page where the quotation can be found follows the year
    • “The articles in the journal are presented in English“ (Pavardenis, 2011, p. 5).
    • Internet resources are treated like other publications (author and year should be indicated). If the author cannot be identified, URL should be indicated in the footnote[1] (not dated).
    • If the author of the reference is organization, or resource without the author, organization’s name or the title of the resource are indicated in the text.

      • International Dictionary (1998)
    • Different authors and the year of the references are separated with semicolons.
      • The articles in the journal (Pavardenis, 2011; Pavardenis et al., 2010; Pavardene, 2009).
    • References of the same author written in the same year should be indicated with different letters a,b,c. after references‘ year.
      • The articles in the journal (Pavardenis, 2011a, 2011b, 2011c).

Presenting the indication of such an article in the text only the first author is indicated and „et al.“ is added (Baranauskiene et

al., 1993).

8.  If a secondary source is used in a book

the primary source is indicated in the text and its citing in a secondary source  (e.g., study by Seidenberg and McClelland cit. in the work of Coltheartet al.).


Indicated in the text:

Study by Seidenberg and McClelland, cited by Coltheart, Curtis, Atkins & Haller (1993).

In the list of references:

Such a publication in the list of references is indicated according to the first letter of the title.

When the author and the publisher is the same instead of the publishing office it is indicated: Author.

4. Book prepared by one editor

Patti, R.J. (Ed.) (2000). The handbook of social welfare management. Thousand Oaks (Calif.): Sage.

5. Book prepared by two or more editors

Marinskienė, N., & Markevičienė, R. (Red.) (1993). Lietuvos spaudos statistika. Vilnius: BKC.

For publications having more than one editor it is possible to indicate the main surname and add “et al”

6. Book without author or editor


Svarbiausi Bolonijos proceso dokumentai: Bolonijos - Londono laikotarpis 1999-2007 m (2008). Vilnius: Lietuvos Respublikos švietimo ir mokslo ministerija

Presenting the indication of such a source in the text the title of the book is indicated in brackets instead of the author: (Svarbiausi Bolonijos proceso dokumentai: Bolonijos-Londono laikotarpis 1999-2007 m, 2008).

7. Encyclopaedia or dictionary

Tarptautinių žodžių žodynas (2005). Ats. Red. A. Kinderys. Vilnius: Alma littera.


8. Article or chapter in a book prepared by two editors

Presenting an article from a book without editors In is indicated before the title of the book.

19. Chapter in an encyclopaedia

Title of conference or symposium should be written in different font.

Journal or publishing office where the manuscript is presented is not indicated in the list.

The manuscript already approved for publication should be described as “in press”.

Indicating the manuscripts in preparation instead of the last sentence it is written “Manuscript in preparation”.




Papers should be prepared in APA Style (Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association, 5th edition)


Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.

  1. The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  2. The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, RTF, or WordPerfect document file format.
  3. Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  4. The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  5. The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines, which is found in About the Journal.
  6. If submitting to a peer-reviewed section of the journal, the instructions in Ensuring a Blind Review have been followed.
