Focus and Scope

Scientific research Journal “SOCIAL WELFARE: INTERDISCIPLINARY APPROACH” covers a large range of topics associated with human social welfare and successful participation in the societal life.

Joint scientific journal "Social Welfare Interdisciplinary Approach" was established in 2011 and since that time and wide audience among scientists and practitioners is created. Journal is published by the universities of three countries – Lithuania (Siauliai University), Ukraine (Open International University of Human Development ,,Ukraine" and  Latvia (Rezekne Academy of Technologies). Siauliai University, Rezekne Academy of Technologies and Open International University of Human Development ,,Ukraine" have a substantial experience in collaboration, promoting social participation of persons with disability. Universities with their real institutional example strive for the creation of all conditions for persons with disability to study in the universities thus making real preconditions for further societal integration. It is this common aim that is the essential value uniting both universities. Pointing out another common value with the statement by Elster "History is the result of human activity not of ideas" we would like to explain not only the circumstances under which the journal appeared but also ensure that we would strive for the unity of science and practice, so that the research presented in the journal has distinct methodological direction – orientation towards the creation of social welfare in the society.

Being for the unity of science and practice we firstly speak up for the investment in people and knowledge. It is the third value uniting us. This value basis: striving for social justice – active performance – investments in people and knowledge – not only describes mission and aims of the journal but also guarantees internationality, interdisciplinarity and originality of scientific works. Only by acting together we could expect the changes in the society. Striving for the special attention to the quality of the articles we acknowledge all those who agreed to participate in the activities of the editorial board of the journal. The editorial board consists of the researchers from the Siauliai University, Open International University of Human Development "Ukraine", Rezekne Academy of Technologies and other high-qualified researchers from the USA, Finland, Poland, Canada, Russia, Czech Republic, the Ukraine and Lithuania, as well. The articles published in our journal are confidentially and efficiently, using double blind review procedure by members from the Advisor’s board that enlarges every year.  The scientific articles are divided into four chapters: "Social Challenges", "The Development of Professional Competences", "Disability Studies", "Psychosocial Rehabilitation" that reflects social welfare of persons who are in the situation of disability (acquired or born) and environment that support social welfare of people with disabilities in all wide range of problems they are facing with. All presented articles are original research works oriented towards the possibilities of actualization in many states. The peculiarities of intercultural and interdisciplinary collaboration are distinct and we expect that in future they will only be stronger and stronger. The articles in the journal are presented in English. Authors, reviewers, editors and editorial board members must comply with the Guidelines on Publication Ethics of Siauliai University, approved by Senate (15 June 2016), and maintaining the standards of publication ethics and research integrity developed by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE, http://publicationethics.org/resources/guidelines). The journal is published twice a year (spring and winter issues). Siauliai University in the close collaboration with Open International University of Human Development "Ukraine" and Rezekne Academy of Technologies is an editor of the journal.

From 2016 journal “Social Welfare: Interdisciplinary Approach is listed in the Emerging Sources  Citation Index (ESCI) - a new index in the Web of Science™ Core Collection.

 We invite authors to share their research results in such thematic areas: personality socialization and re-socialization problems, special and inclusive education, lifelong learning education, management of social and educational policy, psychology of education rehabilitation technologies, information and communication technologies in teaching/learning, methodology of social work research, vocational counseling, training, quality of life, empowerment of people with disabilities, etc.

Peer Review Process

Review process for papers

The Journal's review process meets requirements of Double Blind Peer Review Policy 

  • Paper are peer-reviewed by the International Scientific Editorial Board for acceptance.
  • Both the reviewer and the author are anonymous: manuscripts are subject to a blind review by field editors and the reviewer has no knowledge about the author

 

 

 

Open Access Policy

This journal provides immediate open access to its content on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge.

 

Archiving

This journal utilizes the LOCKSS system to create a distributed archiving system among participating libraries and permits those libraries to create permanent archives of the journal for purposes of preservation and restoration. More...
